Chegamos no Rio!

We’re a bit late with this entry because we got here a week ago. After a ridiculously long trip, 9h flight to washington, 8h stopover, 12h to São Paulo, 2h stopover, 1 hour flight to Rio de Janeiro we kissed the ground passionately at the airport.

We have arrived in Rio!
Thursday, September 21, 2006
Shown here some different stages of our trip. During our 8 hour stopover we decided to check out some of the local culture at Dulles Mall because we’re so cultured. Dre loves the local cuisine and brew. A few hours later Jeroen and Dre enjoy a scotch in an authentic Dulles Airport bar where the ambiance blew us away! We were totally stoked. Even though Jeroen wished our stay in Washington could last forever he found a few moments of peace before boarding the flight to São Paulo.

Our apartment in Rio has an amazing view. We felt compelled to celebrate our arrival with a few drinks in the streets. Jeroen made friends with this guy who claimed he was a notorious gangster after which they swapped shirts to commemorate the moment. At the time Jeroen was very happy with his new shirt but the next day he missed his f^%ck the police Dashiki shirt. Lets hope the girls at www.dashiki.biz send him a new one, although Rio might not be the best place to insult the boys in blue.

We planned to relax the first couple of days but the work matrix caught up with us in no time. Jeroen’s internet addiction forced him to set up office in the window to borrow some zeros and one’s from the neighbors.

We hooked up with Bebel do Gueto, one of the artists who starred in our documentary about hiphop last year, and the we got local haircuts to fit in with the trutas. Tonight we meet the other artists to reminisce , have some drinks and take more pictures...
