Curaçao Painting

With the help of the Art of Impact, the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds – Caribisch gebied and Stichting Doen, Favelapainting was able to initiate several projects on the island of Curaçao.

La Tentashon

This building in the harbour of Willemstad was painted in 2014 during a 2 week workshop with local youth. A year later, Haas&Hahn organised a 2 week workshop with youngsters again and the long-stretched building received a second dyniamic layer of color. The painting of la Tentashon, used as a meeting place for local youth, dance, art and cultural events, formed a stage for Art Rules Curacao.

Kura di Arte

The building Kurá di Arte in Pietermaai Curacao, hosts a large diversity of performing arts for kids and youngsters. In january 2016, Haas&Hahn painted the building together with a crew of artists, students, locals, professionals and probation youngsters. The design of the colors was based on patterns used in traditional carribean clothing.

Favela Painting Academy

The Favela painting academy aims to transfer knowledge about setting up large-scale community-driven art interventions. It was founded in 2016 and since then, three inspiring two-week workshops have been organised in our studio on the tropical island of Curaçao. During these workshops students from across the world discussed and learned about producing large scale community art. Together with local artists and the community an artistic and colorful intervention was realised in the streets of Curaçao (Otrabanda). Through this intervention various social issues could be addressed and the community was given a platform to raise a discussion.
